Links below are accessible for G&A client organizations and SHQ subscribers. The new profile additions are water-issue related. They are:
World Water Forum
(added July 28, 2011) - The World Water Forum is held every three years and is organized by the World Water Council, in collaboration with each Forum's hosting country's government. The World Water Council's Web site page about the World Water Forum states that the series of forums serve "as stepping-stones towards global collaboration on water problems, the Forum is a unique platform where the water community and the policy and decision makers from all regions of the world can link together, debate and attempt to find solutions to achieve water security."
One Water
(added July 22, 2011) - One Water describes itself, in brief, by writing, One Water is a collaborative project at the University of Miami aimed at engaging the media to bring awareness to the global water challenge. OneWater works with journalists and media makers from all over the world (60+ countries). Water Working Group III: Water Conflict Resolution in the United States and China
(added July 22, 2011) - The Woodrow Wilson Centers Web site states the Water Working Group aims to promote information-sharing, facilitate debates, present policy options, and, most importantly, build networks on common water conflict problems, which could help lay a foundation for increased cooperation between the United States and China on water issues The program was part of the Environmental Change and Security Program and supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The Working Group program was part of the Woodrow Wilson Centers China Environment Forum work, which focuses on water issues in China.
International Water Management Institute
(added July 22, 2011) - The International Water Management Institute writes that its mission is to improve the management of land and water resources for food, livelihoods and the environment. Its vision is water for a food-secure world. IWMI focuses on research. The International Water Management Institute was not formally founded until 1984 -- as the International Irrigation Management Institute -- but IWMI notes that the organizations history dates back to 1969, with a Bellagio Group proposal that stressed the importance of water management in agricultural developmentand a proposal from the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations for an international center exploring water issues. IWMI discusses its history online and also lists its Top 10 Best Achievements on its site.
China-UK Water and Wastewater Working Group
(added July 21, 2011) - The Working Group seems to be looking at ways to alleviate uneven distribution of water and the water stress it causes because of geography and rainfall patterns. The Working Groups Web site lists seven projects, noting opportunities for foreign investment, so presumably the Group was established, at least in part, to attract foreign participation in the Chinese water industry. The Working Groups Web site puts water stress problems and water industry reform in context in several ways, including noting the industrialization and marketization of the urban water industry as well as water-related targets under the 11th five-year plan of national economic and social development.
International Programme on the State of the Ocean
(added July 19, 2011) - The International Programme on the State of the Ocean states it was established by scientists with the aim of saving the Earth and all life on it. IPSOs Web site also explains: IPSOs unique consortium of scientists and other Ocean experts including those from the legal, communications and political arenas identify the current problems, project the future outcomes of these problems and develop workable solutions to alter the trajectory of degradation. Limited public information is available about the International Programme on the State of the Ocean as an organization. IPSO calls itself a not-for-profit company hosted by the Zoological Society of London, and says it is independent and free from political or other influence.

Hank Boerner, Chairman and CEO of Governance & Accountability Institute, in announcing the additions said: Water issues are of prime importance to companies. If a business uses water in processes, or in products, water availability and quality are issues. Waste water treatment and discharge are important issues for many companies. Investors are increasing their focus on the water-related issues that affect their analysis and decision-making. The growing realization is that while carbon issues are of importance, water is equally or perhaps more important. Water supply is finite; if overused, or quality affected, game over for some corporations. We continue to profile and monitor third parties that influence water issues for both companies and investors.
