Kyle Herdegen

Kyle Herdegen is a Climate Analyst at Governance & Accountability Institute. He supports G&A clients on numerous climate projects, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, product life cycle GHG inventories, climate risk and opportunities assessments, climate goal and target setting, and climate standards research and guidance.

Kyle’s previous work experience included his role as a Climate Change and Sustainability Analyst at ICF, where he supported numerous projects to calculate and mitigate GHG emissions, most notably for the EPA’s annual Inventory of US GHG Emissions and Sinks. His efforts included updating emission estimates in the Energy sector, creating figures for the report, and modeling uncertainty for over 10 sectors in the report.

Additionally, Kyle worked on GHG inventories for the states of Hawaii and Delaware, collaborated with the National Park Service on reducing emissions at parks across the country, and supported the US Agency for International Development on their internal GHG tracking project and monitoring reviews for environmentally high-risk Multilateral Development Bank projects. He is also a co-author of an article published in Renewable Energy that conducted a life cycle assessment of floating photovoltaic systems and studied the feasibility for application alongside Thailand’s hydroelectric systems.

Kyle completed a BS in Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and currently lives in St. Petersburg, FL. In his free time, he teaches scuba diving as a certified instructor and enjoys exploring the Florida mangroves in his kayak and watching his Tar Heel basketball team.
