Alex Cohen is a Senior Sustainability Analyst at Governance & Accountability Institute, focusing on helping clients to advance their sustainability strategies. Most recently he organized New York Energy Week 2019, a week-long event series that focused on energy sustainability issues in New York City. He was also previously an intern with G&A Institute from 2015-16 where he analyzed sustainability reporting. This research, combined with other experiences in financial services and IT consulting, gives Alex a broad perspective on solutions to sustainability issues.
Since joining the team, Alex has worked on a variety of projects on behalf of clients to help them along their sustainability journey. These have included everything from responding to CDP and RobecoSAM’s Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) to materiality assessments and gap analysis.
Alex holds an MBA in Sustainable Business from Baruch College and a BA in International Studies from Bentley University. He is also a LEED Green Associate and has been trained by ISOS Group in GRI and CDP reporting standards.
In his free time, Alex is an appointed member of Community Board 6 in Queens where he sits on the Environmental Protection committee. He is also a member of the Queens County Young Democrats, where he chairs the environmental caucus, and a member of the Forest Hills Green Team, a neighborhood organization dedicated to advocating for city and state legislation to deal with environmental issues as well as neighborhood beautification.
