Mariela Vargova, Ph.D., is an ESG and impact investing professional and strategy leader with long-term experience in integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues into the investment process, corporate engagement and investor stewardship. She is a former senior vice president of Rockefeller Capital Management (former Rockefeller & Co.) where she worked for over thirteen years and facilitated strategic relationships with asset owners and C-Suite to promote ESG investing and positive corporate change.
Dr. Vargova is an accomplished public speaker and thought leader. She is actively engaged with leading U.S. and global investor organizations such as the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), The Council of Institutional Investors (CII), The International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN), US SIF: The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment, The International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), and the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR), among others. Dr. Vargova holds an M.A. in Political Science from Sofia University, Bulgaria, and an M.A and a Ph.D in Political Science from the New School for Social Research, New School University, New York.
