Sofia Gialama is an ESG consultant based in Greece. Sofia has studied international relations - politics, economics, and European studies. She holds a Bachelor's and MSc in International and European studies.
She has significant working experience in countries across Europe, Central Asia, North Africa and Middle East.
Her areas of expertise include ESG integration in governance, strategy, risk management and reporting, E&S due diligence and monitoring, ESG and climate-related risk assessment for financial institutions, Environmental & Social Management System (ESMS) development in accordance with the EBRD Performance Requirements, EIB E&S Standards, and IFC Performance Standards, as well as ESG & Sustainable Finance Training, among others.
She also provides climate risk advisory services, e.g., Climate Governance Enhancement for Moody’s client, Bank Islam (Malaysia), including assessment and enhancement of climate governance structure, policies, risk appetite framework, and ESG risk assessment methodologies.
As a former intern at Governance & Accountability Institute (G&A) based in New York, she has practical experience in ESG data analysis of companies operating in the USA, UK and Ireland.
Furthermore, as a former EU projects consultant at the Region of Crete
(regional government authority), she has significant experience in EU projects
implementation on Green Economy, Blue Growth, Circular Economy, and
Nature-Based Solutions.

Sofia Yialama is a GRI-certified Senior Sustainability Research Analyst from Greece. She holds a Bachelor and MSc degree in International and European studies and her areas of expertise include international relations, international cooperation and sustainable development. As a former E.U Projects Consultant and member in regional Task Forces, she has significant experience in project management in sectors such as Sustainability in the Blue Economy sectors, Green Economy, Sustainable Tourism and Nature-Based solutions. Her solid career objective and self-motivation is to inspire, influence and develop initiatives and projects coupled with multilateral partnerships towards achieving “Sustainability Transition” in the private sector.
After completing her internship, Sofia was asked to extend her internship for another term and was promoted to G&A Intern Team Leader, supervising and training incoming interns
