Julia Nehring is an Sustainability Analyst at Governance & Accountability Institute. Having started in 2019 as an intern providing research assistance for G&A's flash reports and analyzing sustainability/corporate responsibility reports for the GRI Sustainability Disclosure database, she is excited to continue working with G&A on various client projects and research initiatives.

Julia is expected to complete her MBA at the University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in May 2020. Being back in school has presented her with many opportunities to get involved in the community and beyond, including as Net Impact chapter president, data management volunteer with the local farmer's market organization, data analytics intern with a Fortune 500 company, team leader of UIUC consulting projects and case competitions, marketing course assistant, and of course, as an analyst at G&A.

Prior to returning to school for her MBA, Julia worked for several years as a project manager for an environmental consulting firm. She traveled all over the U.S. to complete environmental due diligence projects for her clients' commercial real estate property transactions, which included a gold manufacturing facility, a residence-turned-dive bar, and several utility-scale wind farms, to name a few. Julia also spent a year as an AmeriCorps volunteer, driving across the country to provide assistance following natural disasters and educating children and seniors about disaster preparedness.

Her interests in a variety of environmental issues began during undergrad at the University of Kansas. Julia spent each spring break working with a different environmental organization, from a kids' summer camp on Catalina Island to an organic family farm in Kentucky. She wound up working in a monarch butterfly research lab and did independent research on milkweed, the monarch caterpillar's food source. While her interests vary, she is intrigued by the growth of the ESG field as it attracts more and more attention of the world's biggest and most influential organizations and investors.
