Carbon Footprints Wall Street Journal

“Everybody is talking about it.  But what exactly is a carbon footprint?  And how is it calculated?”  (And – what is it going to cost your company?)  The Wall Street Journal’s special section – Monday, October 6, 2008 – Environment – The Journal Report – is a great read on carbon footprints.  “Six Products / Six Carbon Footprints” features familiar companies and their products:  fleece jackets, laundry detergents, boots, milk, cars, and beer.  ( Toyota, Timerland, Texco, Patagonia, Fat Tire Amber Ale, and Aurora Organic Dairy on the featured firms.)

This is an important read for every corporate executive and every board member.  And, of course, for financial analysts and investors focused on ESG factors – carbon issues are very much in the “E” bucket, but are also social and governance issues.
