Stan Adams

Stan is a skilled corporate sector strategist with extensive experience in identifying, analyzing and solving critical, sensitive issues affecting Fortune 500 and multi-national companies. He has worked closely with top management at these organizations, providing a unique perspective in addressing and resolving their business challenges.

Stan’s ability to incorporate all relevant points-of-view into the mix when examining key issues has proved invaluable to clients. This is a result of the knowledge and expertise he has acquired from over 25 years as a senior officer at major companies, as a banker, at leading advertising agencies and as a management consultant. He is especially adept at identifying impending, strategic problems for clients – distilling them to their essence – and helping to devise creative solutions that have proven extremely effective.

Prior to joining the Governance and Accountability Institute, Stan was co-founder and president of a marketing consulting firm – The Nantucket Group – advising clients such as Time Inc., American Express, Avon Products, Perfetti SpA., Citbank, Saatchi & Saatchi, IBM, AOL, and other brand marketers – providing them insights on a wide-range of strategic issues that resulted in improvements in the efficiency of their operations and increased profitability.

Stan also served as Vice-President, Director of Marketing at Chase Manhattan Bank – where he was responsible for all marketing and advertising activities, as well as new product development for the New York Retail Bank’ branch network. He worked closely with other divisions within the organization – coordinating the positioning of all the bank’s products and services and organizing the planning and execution of their communications programs. Accomplishing this required a thorough understanding of the critical sensitivities throughout all sectors of bank and a deft touch in motivating them to take action for the benefit of the overall organization.

Stan gained considerable experience over his career as an account manager at major advertising agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi, McCann-Erickson, Hakuhodo America and DDB. He provided strategic guidance and insights and developed comprehensive communications programs for such agency clients as American Express, Shearson-Lehman Brothers, General Mills, Hitachi, Nestle, and others. He was a key contributor in the development of the successful national introduction of the American Express Gold and Platinum charge cards and the strategic positioning of Shearson-Lehman Brothers –  and was instrumental in the enhancement of the many of his other clients’ corporate images and the improvement of their brands performance.

He graduated from Lehigh University with a BA in Finance and from Wharton with an MBA in Marketing.
