Dave Vieser

Dave Vieser has served in various media positions for nearly 40 years, working in both the public and private sector. In these positions, he has developed a keen understanding of the how the media works, and how to best track down vital information.

He is an accomplished writer as well as a former news broadcaster, sports analyst/play-by-play commentator, and host of Long Island’s Number one rated morning radio show.

Dave’s communications career began at WGBB (Freeport, New York) where he worked his way up from night DJ to prime time Morning Show Host and Assistant Program Director for the station. His ten year stint was in the days before cable TV, when AM radio was the major source of news and information for a growing Long Island suburban community (regional population exceeds 3 million). It was during this time that he refined his broadcast news skills and developed media contacts that he has maintained to this day.

In 1976, Dave left radio for the Long Island Rail Road / New York State Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). His primary assignment was manager of media information services, where Dave became acquainted with the inner most political and governmental operations of the world’s largest mass transit provider.

Finally tiring of the commute, he decided to rejoin the Long Island workforce in 1983, accepting the post of Press Secretary for the Town of Hempstead (reported to be the most populous township in the US). It was during this time that he became good friends and companions with Ken Cynar, one of the Institute’s best known commentators. Dave left the Town in 1987 for a similar position with Nassau County, where he stayed through 1999.

While in county government, Dave developed a reputation as a straight-shooter with the media, and was highly respected as a dependable and accurate news tactician.

Following his departure from the county, he served for a year as Editor of The Village Herald, and then three years as Special Account Executive with Ryan PR in Farmingdale, NY.

A graduate of Hofstra University (BA) and the New York Institute of Technology (MA), Dave oversees the G&A Institute Southeast Division located in Charlotte, NC. He is also a special correspondent for The Charlotte Observer newspaper.
