GRI G3 - G3.1 Frameworks Followed - Self Declared Levels
A Level Reports
Chrysler Group LLC - A+ report - with GRI Application Level Check and AA1000 Assurance provided (G3.1) and audited by SGS (SGS Italia S.p.A.). This an interesting report out of the "new Chrysler" -- its 2011 Sustainability Report - Economic, Environmental and Social Responsibility. Coming out of the 2009 bankruptcy of the "old" Chrysler, the new Chrysler Group was formed in a "strategic alliance" with Fiat Societa Per Azioni (S.p.A); majority ownership stakes are held by Fiat; the United Auto Workers (UAW) VEBA has a stake; Fiat has management control. All of the American "Big 3" auto manufacturers publish sustainability / responsibility reports. Chrysler makes Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Mopar (parts), Fiat vehicles and products. Extensive targets are included in the report for various sustainability elements over the next few years. The report contains abundant references to Fiat -- which is a Dow Jones Sustainability Index company (DJSI) and one of the members of the 500 Global Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index companies (CDLI), and Carbon Performance Leadership Index (CDP). Fiat Group brands includes Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Abarth brands as well as Ferrari and Maserati luxury brands. Fiat says this is its "eighth edition" of its sustainability report. Look at this as an example of a very comprehensive report by a "European and American" global operating company that addresses many financial and ESG issues and concerns in industrial as well as in emerging economies. The report focuses on the automobile sector (the company separated its tractor, truck and construction equipment activities). Note that Fiat Group states it made no contributions to political parties in 2011. The company has no PAC. It does lobby and "financial contributions" are decided within each Group. The report contains information about SR investor activity -- "free float" shares were at 8.7% of Fiat S.p.A. in November 2011 (rising from 4.8% in May 2010). This is one of the most comprehensive GRI reports we've seen in the past year. |

GRI G3 Framework Followed - Self Declared Levels
G&A Notes: The Level of the GRI reports (Level A, B, C) indicates the scope and extent of Boundaries, Disclosure and selection of performance Indicators and other factors. This is a voluntary, self-selected Level -- not a "grade" assigned to the report by GRI or another party. The level is to be viewed as a description of the scope of the reporting -- what information is included, what is not, or may be partially reported. Greater the inclusion of Disclosure information and response to the framework's key performance Indicators determines the Level. The red plus sign + indicates that an independent third party Assurance Provider checked all or parts of the report. The GRI reports that have a Level voluntarily selected by the reporting company contain a Content Index to refer the reader to specific pages where the company or institution provided responses to specific GRI framework Disclosures and Indicators.
