Michael Berg, J.D.Michael is a sustainability and governance expert with a focused expertise on how regulators and the financial markets are addressing climate change and sustainability. Michael has 10 years of experience as a strategy and communications advisor to leading companies and organizations across sectors including food, retail, healthcare, technology, construction, and media. Michael’s practice is focused on opportunities, challenges and best practices related to sustainability performance measurement and reporting, global supply chain management, regulatory compliance, and leading edge methods of communication and branding. Michael is a frequent writer on sustainability, having recently written on environmental due diligence for the American Bar Association (ABA) and on a specialized form of enterprise-wide footprinting for the healthcare sector. Michael is an author of the forthcoming book: ‘‘Climate Change: A Guide to Carbon Law and Practice’’. Michael is also a certified Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) trainer to educate corporations on the framework’s G3 indicators and process for defining key stakeholders and material issues for reporting in alignment with strategic goals and industry-specific issues. Michael received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was a staff editor of the Texas Journal of Business Law. Michael received his bachelor’s degree from the Marshall School of Business at the Universityof Southern California. Michael began his career as an information architect for the consultancy Sapient Corporation and as a financial analyst for the investment firm Eden Capital Management. Michael became interested in sustainability and corporate social responsibility while working as a legal analyst for Village Focus, an economic development-oriented NGO in Cambodia.
